Garnier Pure Active Blackhead Uprooting Scrub Review

Hello all,

What happens when you know that the product won't work and you still buy it expecting that it would work to an extent and then eventually find out that the product is actually not working at all. Or wait it's working but not working to achieve the task that it is formulated to. Phew!.. However, confusing I may sound to you, but these are exactly the thoughts I have about the product under the scanner today. And that is the Garnier Pure Active Blackhead Uprooting Scrub.

Price: Rs. 79/- for 50gm

Shelf Life: 36 months

Ingredients: see pic below-

About Garnier Pure Active Blackhead Uprooting Scrub:

Garnier Pure Active is a new generation of concentrated formula tested on acne prone skin. If your skin is prone to blackheads and you wish to remove them while cleansing to prevent their re-appearance and clear imperfection marks, then this is made for you. It's creamy formula delivers a double ANTI-SPOTS ANTI-MARKS action:

  1. Enriched with an excellent exfoliating ingredient and powerful micro-beads, it roots out blackheads and visible reduces them.
  2. Thanks to its remarkable scrubbing properties and enriched with a natural regenerating active, it helps peel off imperfection marks.

How to use it: Daily apply on wet face. Gently rub the foamy cream across your face insisting on the most affected areas and your T-zone. Rinse thoroughly. Avoid eye contact.

My Experience with Garnier Pure Active Blackhead Uprooting Scrub: The company claims to have some super ingredient which they name as HerbaRepair. It is a natural active extracted from Vaccinium myrtillus with exceptional regenrating and skin-repairing properties. Also it contains concentrated Salicylic acid.

Color, fragrance & packaging: This scrub comes in a very attractive packaging with a white body and aqua cap and smells mainly of mint. The scrub is light blue in color, translucent with micro beads in it which are meant for exfoliation. The product comes out, when you squeeze the tube.

Application: Coming to the application part- it's not easy. Yes, the scrub does not spread uniformly on the face and a lot of water is required to make it actually work. This also means a lot of product is wasted in the process.

Effectiveness: The scrub is mainly meant for uprooting black heads (as mentioned by the company). But I really doubt this property. I do not have blackheads to test this aspect but do have occasional white-heads. White-heads are generally less obstinate in nature and come out easily with a medium harsh scrub. But this scrub does not seem to work for me even on those white-heads which was actually a big turn off.

Suitability for Acne Prone skin: I think it totally depends on one's skin tolerance towards different ingredients. Garnier Pure Active Blackhead Uprooting Scrub has several moderately comedogenic and mildly comedogenic ingredients namely Palmitic acid, Stearic acid, Cetyl alcohol and SLS. Not much of a concern but yes sensitive person can do a double check before actually using this.

After Effects: Post usage the skin does look fresh and bright after usage but the effect lasts only a couple of hours. Also it does not overly dries out skin, which is good.

My Final Take on Garnier Pure Active Blackhead Uprooting Scrub: TPN does not recommend usage of this scrub. There are other decent ones in the market at reasonable prices. The ingredients though may not be comedogenic in nature but do little in treatment of blackheads. I cannot say it is a good scrub, at the same time cannot shun it completely. But yes, it fails to deliver on what it promises!
